【8月2日17:00〜@Online】Hibakusha Dialogue: 80 Years Have Passed Since Hiroshima and Nagasaki

　8月2日17:00〜19:00、核兵器廃絶に向けた対話イベント「Hibakusha Dialogue: 80 Years Have Passed Since Hiroshima and Nagasaki ー What Do Survivors of the WWII Atomic Bombings Tell Us Today and How Should We Act?」を開催します。

　広島と長崎に原爆が投下されてから80年。世界にはいまだ12,000発を超える核兵器数が存在し、ウクライナやガザをはじめ各地で戦禍が続いています。また、国内外で排外主義やヘイトスピーチが広がり、多様な人々が平和で安心して暮らせる世の中とは逆行しています。

　そうしたなか、戦後・被爆80年のタイミングで、被爆者の証言と声に耳を傾け、私たちにできることを考えるオンライン対話イベントを企画しました。今回のHibakusha Dialogueは、英語で開催し、全世界の人々を対象とします。ぜひご参加ください！

　　We are pleased to announce an upcoming Zoom webinar at August 2, 17:00–19:00 (JST): “Hibakusha Dialogue: 80 Years Have Passed Since Hiroshima and Nagasaki — What Do Survivors of the WWII Atomic Bombings Tell Us Today and How Should We Act?”

　　This year, August 6th and 9th will mark the 80 years anniversary since the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Despite that, more than 12,000 nuclear weapons still exist globally, while armed conflicts continue in various parts of the world such as Ukraine and Gaza. At the same time, we see the spread of xenophobia and hate speech both in Japan and abroad — a trend that runs counter to building a peaceful, inclusive society where everyone can live together.

　　Against this backdrop, we are organizing an online dialogue event to learn a testimony and messages of Hibakusha (atomic-bomb survivors) at this 80-year milestone and to explore actions we can take for world peace. This Hibakusha Dialogue will be held in English. Please join us!
